SOLOALBUM · 2026

I stemt jord

I stemt jord is Vilde Sandve Alnæs' first solo album - released on the label Motvind Records november 2026. In her solo work, she explores and challenges the technical, sonorous, and musical possibilities of an acoustic violin: multi-layered textures, virtuosic color sensitivity, and birdsong are delicately intertwined. The album was produced by Anja Lauvdal. The album was recorded by Espen Reinertsen and Christian Winther at Anja Lauvdal and Christian Winther’s beautiful To Furuer studio at Nesodden. Read the text I stemt jord by Alnæs here

Duo · since 2010

Vilde&Inga

After playing together for more than a decade, describing Vilde&Inga’s music as “free improvised” might be an oversimplification.

Ornette Coleman said “what’s exciting is the memory you bring to the present”. This is central to how Vilde&Inga’s music is created: always free from any pre-planned structures, yet with a dense memory-texture of shared musical explorations and moments shaping the sounding present.

By exploring nontraditional approaches to the violin and double bass, the duo has greatly expanded their timbre palette. The wide horizons of color allow the music to develop slowly and organically. Some people hear birds, and some squeaking and brushing — others enter a ruin of classical music where they encounter a forest elf playing blues.

Vilde Sandve Alnæs and Inga Margrete Aas met during studies in Oslo in 2010. Since then they have toured regularly in Norway and internationally. vildeinga.com

Jo David Meyer Lysne – NiTi

Composer and instrument builder Jo David Meyer Lysne augments the violin and double bass with home-made mechanical instruments — mechanical ropes, swinging metal and instruments inspired by 20th-century Italian music-machines. A world premiere at Borealis 2023.

The title comes from Nitinol, a “memory metal” that shifts shape when heated and returns when cooled — a room for listening where the lines between the mechanical and organic are blurred.

Lo Kristenson – Erfaringer av trä

Experiences with wood — to the forest that once was. Building on a deep engagement with trees and forest ecosystems, Kristenson looks closely at the connections between the wooden body of stringed instruments and the living organisms and plants found in a forest.

Recorded live at Borealis festival, 2023. Video by Ben Speck.

Orchestra · founded 2007

Ensemble Allegria

Allegria (ital.) means merriment and enjoyment — and it was the pleasure of playing together that led a group of music students to launch the orchestra in 2007. Today it is considered among Norway’s leading music ensembles, known for combining high artistic quality with spontaneity and flexibility. Its 23 musicians manage the orchestra themselves; its concertmaster and artistic director is Maria Angelika Carlsen.

Besides its own concert series “NÅ” in Oslo, Allegria has played leading Norwegian festivals with soloists such as Tine Thing Helseth, Martin Fröst, Truls Mørk, Lawrence Power, Kathryn Stott and Benjamin Schmid. Two of its three recordings were nominated for the Norwegian Grammy, and in 2018 it received, with the Norwegian Soloists’ Choir, the Diapason d’or de l’année for Choir Record of the Year.
